Clinical Validation
CIMVA software is currently undergoing clinical validation studies at The Ottawa Hospital. Located in Canada’s capital city, the institution is one of Canada’s largest teaching hospitals and medical research institutions. CIMVA is currently integrated into the hospital’s 32-bed surgical ICU as well as in select outpatient applications. A comprehensive research program evaluating the methodology, the clinical applications and the theory underlying the performance of CIMVA has been underway for multiple years.
CIMVA has been used for early assessment of sepsis in bone marrow transplant patients. Data indicates that CIMVA shows the onset of infection approximately 24 hours in advance of the current standard of diagnosis in these patients. This study has recently been published in PLoS ONE.
Additional studies have demonstrated CIMVA’s effectiveness to improve spontaneous breathing trial analysis decisions by predicting the outcome of extubation from mechanical ventilation. CIMVA also currently being studied for prognostic efficacy in general ICU patientsl. Publication of these research initiatives is pending.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss assessing CIMVA software in your institution on a research trial basis. Please contact Dr. Andrew Seely at: aseely@ohri.ca
